Early in the morning, our English-French speaking driver will pick you up at your accommodation (Hotel / Riad), Train station or airport in a comfortable air-conditioned SUV and drive you towards the Middle Atlas Mountains & Berber Caves.

 

Our driver will guide you first towards the BERBER CAVES in Bhalil town where nomadic tribes are still living a traditional life in caves. After visiting the beautiful town of Bhalil we will meet one of the hospitable families who still live in the caves. The woman will make her delicious sweet homemade tea for us as you can ask anything you like to know about the local traditions and values of this people. The driver/guide will translate for you.

If you like our driver can guide you to lunch in a traditional Berber Restaurant to discover & taste the local food. If you are interested in Amazigh culture (Imouzer) and the local artisanal handicrafts the driver will escort you there.

Many of the inhabitants of Imouzer are of Amazigh descent and speak a native language very different from Arabic.

The amazing journey will take you through the Middle Atlas Mountains in the north of Morocco. We will reach the height up to almost 2000 meters. One of the interesting places to visit is the Berber city of  Ifrane, also known as Moroccan Switzerland. In the winter season, there are possibilities for skiing here. Ifrane also has a private Al -Akhawayn University, which attracts each year the best students of Morocco. Ifrane city is one of the cleanest cities in the world also known for its classical alpine architecture. The word Ifrane means “caves” and nowadays people refer to it as “The Garden city” because of its beauty.

In this area, we will see a lot of apple trees, olive trees. The National Parc/ ancient cedar forest with eucalyptus trees is also a natural habitat fort he barbary monkeys

Continuing our way through Cedar forests there will be a lot ofopportunitiesy to stop and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view and natural beauty of this area. We will also come across  “Dayit Awa” , a fabulous Lake which is around close to Ifrane city  , you will definitely fall in love with all the attractive panoramic sights and pure environment. you have the opportunity to ride along the lakeside.

Last stop of the day will be in the town of Azrou, the ancient capital of the Amazigh people in the Middle Atlas region. Azrou town  is a very attractive destination . We will see houses with classic painted doors, windows and glazed tiles.

Situated at 1,250m above sea level, Azrou finds itself nestled cozily in the surrounding hills of the Middle Atlas Mountains.F amous for its cedar forests, butterflies, and Barbary ape population, Azrou is a perfect place to get back to nature. During our time in Azrou, we will visit the old town center with the possibility of also taking a walk in the abundant nature.

Once finishing our tour in Azrou, we directly head  back to your accommodation in Fez.

The Middle Atlas Mountains are fascinating cedar forests lined with charming Berber hill towns and villages, with the most dramatic barren slopes.
